yea unfourtunately Assassin are in the position that Rangers were in the first few months of Prophecies being out... Though I do grab people when I see enough for a mission. I have been having trouble getting a group together for Hatchery lately on one character, but I don't think its discrimination like that happens with rank and Titles in PvP. For me at least its that most of my friends are not interested in playing that side of the map, and it seems Many are following suit, as there never seems to be many there for a full party...

I figure eventually they will start showing up in masses... Its just gonna take time...

I really am sorry your having so much trouble in arborstone. I did manager to do that one with nothing but hechies like the 3rd day the game was out, Only because Only a handful of people got that far. I'll try to make a point to go back and hit a few of those key missions with others more often...

Piece of advice. take the center path through the building. not around. thats the best path to completion, even before the bug was fixed...

Well if this is true, I feel real sorry for all of you that have been paired up with the bad assasins. To be honest I dont know what type of assasin I am, but I try my hardest not to piss anyone off since even being an assasin in a pug I know I am pushing my luck. I know how to control aggro, I know when to run and when to fight. I havnt really played factions with others except for two occasions, but both times I never did and leeroy crap. Its kinda sad that good players in general are the "minority".

Advice from one monk to another monk:

1. If an assassin Joins your group, Don't Panic! Most of them arent 1/2 as bad as forums make them out to be.

2. If 2 assassins joins your group, look at your skill bar... Does it have "Vigorous Spirit" on it? If not Add it to your bar, as it will now be a great heal for alot of the party.

3. If 2 or more sins are in your group, and one dies, Dont rez them untill after the fight is over, it is a waste of energy for a primary healer, let some one else in the group handle it.

4. Consider brining live vacariously if you know what is going on ahead will be alittle bit hairy and you might need self healing. Keep it on your selves at all time and the assassin will now be your best ally!

5. if 4+ assassins joins your group, leave! No group should be that top heavy in any one class.


-Monk with Vigorous spirit glued to his skill bar, and loving the fact that i can cast it on a sin and not have to heal them again untill it wears off.

Assassins are considered noobs because all the idiot wamos from prophecies made new assassins, and because they are melee, those same idiots decide to play assassins like wamos...

news flash, you dont have wamo armor or wamo stances, assassins are great in pvp, but in pve, i would take an idiot wamo over a decent assassin anyday

Actually, my mesmer is getting a lot of love in PUGs, with requests for degen, interrupts, diversions, echo backfires, etc. I've been pounced on by PUGs at Boreas Seabed and Unwaking Waters from time to time, as well as other place I've seen mesmers actually be requested. I fear I haven't seen the same for the assassin yet. I've certainly come across my fair share of both good and bad of both classes though.

With the way the Factions bosses spam skills, Diversion destroys them, every single time.

Well its not just happening in PvE, PvP (mostly alliance battles) is showing this too.

This is mainly because Assassins req skill and you to have the ability to know what your doing. So naturally a bunch of Wammos what to try a new melee character and well the result is predictable.

Default my first canthan character

was actually a W/Mo. In Proph i played a Mo/Me and N/Me. Both are great classes. When Factions came out, I didn't bring them over yet (even tho i should bring the monk over one of these days seeing as i wait 1 second till i get in a group). But I wanted to play the game straight up from the beginning, like i did w/ proph. So i create my W/Mo, i was actually going to make a sin, cause comming from D2 i really liked the sins skills in that game (claws are cooler than daggers too btw). But yeah, what swayed me to make the W/Mo? The armor, not gonna lie, the Factions armor looks so good for warriors. But anywho, my point is this. From what i know about warriors right now, i just switched to ranger secondary, im using Tigers Fury > For Great Justice > Silverwing > Dragon then i got heal sig, watch yourself, and 2 pet skills. And i do some pretty damn nice damage. Why take a weak little damage dealer, when u can have a Warrior damage dealer that doesnt die in 3 hits? Just my opinion, but sins die way to fast, warriors atleast hold their own and do good damage. Warriors are also somewhat self sufficient. By the way, opinion on the whole mesmer thing. My ideal pug is 2 monks, 2 warriors, rit, 2 eles, ranger or mesmer. Mesmers are quite good at tearing thru things if they are protected.

But, from what I've seen, once you get to a certain point in the game, the Sins and the rest of the players have been seasoned, and they don't suck anywhere near as much. And, as far as "always taking henchmen", that's one very lonely way to play. I've always had more fun with PUG's. You can actually meet some cool people that way. A lot better than the random ramblings of the Henchies. And, that block of orange text that pops up when you try to strike a conversation is demeaning, like a reminder that you're oh so emo and should be Kurzik.

I haven't seen a lot of love for assassins really, and I also haven't seen a lot to deserve it. True, about half are good players who do the hit and run thing quite well, the other half die quite easily. *Shrug* the same thing could be said of warriors and their frenzy love. I guess it's because assassins lack a clear-cut role in group combat so most PUGs would rather take someone in the cookie cutter model.

As a side note, what's up with my ranger not being able to get a group now? I had groups turn down an interrupter in the Boreas seabed mission for an ss necro. I think there's a major increase in cookie cutter syndrome where people will sit and spam for a mm in a mission with no corpses simply because "mm's are good".

Factions is so easy...I'm a sin myself, haven't really gotten any trouble with a mission itself, and all I do is randomly invite people, when i got 6 or 7 , I grab a healer henchie and I hit enter mission.

The trick is, only good players accept random invites, because they think they got what it takes to be a good member of the team. Generally, noobs ask for tanks, 3-4 healers ( I've seen 7 healers requested once ).

Just make an all-assassin party with some healer henchies or spirit henchies...if you have more than 3 good players, it should be a breeze...

My case of the noob assassin:

I was in Fort Aspenwood the other day, and an assassin came up to me while I was battling something else. I was down on energy and health already so he runs up and cuts me down, then says "I pwned you".

This of course leads me to the only logical answer:

"You are now my bitch for the rest of this match"

Loser kept striking at me, when I was using my Inept Build. He kept trying to spam Shadow Refuge when I had Overload and Backfire in my bar.

Let this be a lesson to all Assassin. Dont use Shadow Refuge in PVP. Least not when facing a Mesmer.

As far as PVE. I got no problem with one assassin. Maybe two. But early in Shing Jea I was in a group that was nothing but assassins, a rit and myself as a Monk. Never again will anyone tell me Assassins can do anything at all.

I only know ONE assassin (who is a friend of mine) that does not go down faster than a 2 dollar tramp, in combat. Mostly b/c he spams Shadow refuge. Every other Asn I know racks up 60 percent DP so fast it'll scare you.

Simply put Asn's suck up too much of the monk's energy to keep alive. It just isn't energy efficant to have one. The don;t do THAT much extra damage. Nor do they have some party buff skill that makes them worth having.

Which is odd b/c they ave the same armor rating as Rangers but....you never see them die as much.

Im sure your a very good Asn, but the class just has poor marks right now. Mostly due to players not knowing how to use it effectivly.

Actually...you should ask similar questions about *all* the people in your pug if you want to have a great experiance. A little time before means less time waste of it when you fail horribly.

I like you peeps in US districts. You always seem to complain about the stupid players you have.

I've finished Factions with my assasin before the preorder period was over. Let me tell you all real players were assasins. Had no problem at all. Probably those who reached those places that fast knew what they were doing.

Just another thing. Stop asking assasins for skills you can only get later on the game. And dont bother asking for Aura of Displacement. As far as i know before the boss update (2 day ago or so) it was only available in Ferndale(kurzik). So you can ask for it starting starting with The Eternal Grove mission. Maybe on luxon side you can ask for it from Gyala Hatchery if someone got to The Eternal Grove already on kurzik side.

P.S. Thirtsy River with 3 assasins was the fastest i have ever seen (one was only lvl 16)
